Meet the Blakiston’s Fish Owl, also known as Bubo Blakistoni. There are
about 2,000 of them living in the far-eastern Russia, northern Japan,
north-eastern China, and Korea. These owls love to eat fish and have become
endangered because of the widespread loss of riverine forest, and increasing
human developments along rivers and dam construction.
I love that this actually has a message, too. It's not just owl for the sake of owl, but to call attention to its endangered status.
