About Mod Mom
I’m an ex-marketing executive turned self-taught furniture designer/builder. After leaving the corporate world in 2003 to spend more time with my kids (then 1 and 5), I spent some time doing freelance marketing work as well as being a nanny to help make ends meet. After doing some research and realizing that, at the time, only two companies sold modern style toy boxes, I decided to give furniture building a try. After all, the potential profit from one toy box equaled three days of nanny work and provided me with a much needed and missed creative outlet. Woodworking wasn’t that foreign to me because my father, a self-taught carpenter and woodworker, built most of our furniture when I was growing up in Ohio. From him, I learned to not fear what you don't know. So I bought a table saw and the rest is history.

For three and a half years, I built everything myself but I’m excited to announce that I recently partnered with a fantastic Amish furniture manufacturer in Ohio to produce all of my designs! (Check out the AMISH MADE page for all the details!)

I'm proud to say my eco-friendly furniture has not only been featured in magazines, TV shows, and modern design books but is being purchased by families, celebrities, and interior designers from around the globe.
