Blogiversary & Giveaway!

Dear Cute Hooters,

We can hardly believe it! Today we celebrate the second anniversary of our Cute Hoots blog!

Last week our Facebook page stats showed 865 monthly active users and as of this morning we have 225 Likes. We've had 101,506 page views on the blog in our 2 years. 10,942 last month alone. 418 this past Wednesday. How did THAT happen?

Our owl obsession started way back in the Fall of 1995 when we pledged the Gamma Beta chapter of the Chi Omega sorority and back then owls were hard to find, so we were always on the lookout. A few years ago we found that owls were becoming very popular and suddenly there were owl things everywhere, so this blog started out as a way to keep us from buying every single owl item we came across! (Nina's husband has approved of this outlet as their house was beginning to look a bit like a bird sanctuary - hee hee.) Somehow by having our favorite owls cataloged on the web, we could feel that we still had them with us. Fortunately for many of our readers, it seems we have created a bit of a shopping list!

We wanted to thank you for sharing in our little obsession and we hope that you will continue to contribute your favorite finds.

Now for the best part of our blogiversary - the giveaway! One of our favorite owls is by far the West Elm Ceramic Owl (see the profile pic on our Facebook page of us holding the little guys), so starting today through midnight PST on Monday, July 18 anyone hoooo leaves a comment on this post will be entered into a drawing to win one large West Elm Ceramic Owl!!! Yup, that's him right there in the photo below on the left :)

We will Owl-ways be grateful for your support. Hoot hoot!

Nina and Susan

The fine print (i.e. the rules):

One entry per person, please.

  2. Me!

And just a heads up, Hobby Lobby has tons of owl stuff out right now. I picked up a salt & pepper shaker set, and a matching plate this week. They were 50% off.

  3. Hi Gina! Thanks for the tip on Hobby Lobby! I always see so many great things from there posted on blogs. Sadly, the nearest Hobby Lobby store to Los Angeles is 175 miles away :( But I just check their site and it looks like they are opening a couple of stores within 50 miles of us so I'll definitely check it out when they open!

  5. Too Cute!! I went through the same thing when I picked out an owl theme for my son's nursery: At first you can't find anything, then you can find everything!!
Love the blog, keep it up!

  6. HOOOOOO loves this site? I do, I do! My dad was my best friend and an amazing father HOOO always collected owls! Unfortunately, my 3 sisters and I lost him to lung cancer a little over 3 years ago. Once he was gone, we started noticing neat owl stuff everywhere and would take pics and send them via text to each other saying "Dad loves you!" As the few years have passed, we have started giving each other gifts which are always some type of neat OWL find! It reminds us that Dad is still watching over us. I found your site via FB and love seeing all of your neat posts. I have actually posted 2 different pics on your site in the past! The snowy owl mason jar and the Valentine owl pillow. I always share your FB stuff with my sisters, shared the link of the OWL fingernails recently! And I even have a whole FB album devoted to "Owls, owls everywhere... and they make me happy". I think it is neat that you guys love them b/c of your sorority, and just thought I would share why I love them too! So, pick me, pick me! And if I do get chosen, I won't be able to respond until Aug 4th b/c I leave for Thailand on Mon July 18th... on the search for some amazing Thai OWLS!! Maybe I'll get you guys a surprise too. =) Keep doing what you do, it is sooo much fun.

  11. Nina and Susan, I just love following the Cute Hoots Facebook page and your blog. I have seen so many cute owl products here. I went to Target yesterday and looked for the school supplies, but only found one of the notebooks. I'll be checking another Target tomorrow. :)

  12. Hi Tonia! The owl school supplies are in the special back to school section, not the regular office supplies section. In my Target it's the same space they use for holidays too. I hope you find them!

  13. I am a Chi Omega from the Pi Mu chapter at Florida Gulf Coast University and ever since I pledged this has been my go-to site for where to find gifts for my sisters (and myself occasionally). Thank you so much for compiling a list and making it easier to find owl stuff everywhere :)

  15. AshleyMac,

Thank you for sharing your story. I have a friend at work whose parents collected as well. Her mother passed away two year's ago. I shared your post with her it made her smile.

It's so nice to hear that our fun little blog can help bring a moment of love and remembrance with each post. :)
